Yingde Hong Cha (英德红茶) – Ying Hong No. 9 Black Tea

Yingde Hong Cha is a traditional Chinese black tea originating from Guangdong Province, China. This tea is made from the Ying Hong No. 9 cultivar, which was developed from Yunnan large-leaf tea varieties.

Known for its rich aroma and smooth, full-bodied character, Yingde Hong Cha offers a mellow taste with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and nuts, complemented by a subtle honey-like fragrance and a lingering sweet finish.

This tea can be prepared using traditional Gong Fu brewing methods or a regular teapot.

Traditional Gong Fu Brewing:

  1. Warm the teapot with hot water.

  2. Add approximately 4–6 grams of tea leaves.

  3. If desired, briefly rinse the leaves with hot water and discard the rinse.

  4. Add freshly boiled water (100°C / 212°F) and steep for approximately 15–25 seconds.

  5. Separate the tea from the leaves after steeping.

  6. For subsequent infusions, increase the steeping time by approximately 10–20 seconds. The leaves may be brewed multiple times, depending on personal preference.

Regular Teapot Brewing:

  1. Warm the teapot with hot water.

  2. Add approximately 6–8 grams of tea leaves.

  3. Add freshly boiled water (100°C / 212°F).

  4. Steep for approximately 1–2 minutes, adjusting the time to your preferred strength.

  5. Strain and serve. Additional infusions may be prepared by increasing the steeping time.

Origin: Guangdong Province, China.

Please note, that it is natural tea with high content of active elements, including caffeine, and minerals and some unusual feelings could appear. In that case we recommend decrease quantity of dry leaves and brewing time.
